The University of Mississippi will start offering an Internet-based Master of Business Administration program in January, Dr. Bonnie Buntin, Ole Miss dean at DeSoto Center in Southaven, said Friday. "This is a professional MBA," Buntin said. "It is something we have waited on for a long time. It is part-time from wherever you are. It uses Web-based instruction. Basically, you can complete the courses from your computer."
An announcement of the program says it is "designed to meet the needs of working adults interested in completing a graduate business degree."
In addition to the Internet-based instruction, the program will involve some telephone conference calls, videoconferencing and "interactive CD-ROM/DVD technology."
Buntin said that during the overall course of the program, some "in- person gatherings" will be held at the university's campus in Oxford. Also, she said DeSoto Center, the Oxford campus and Tupelo will be used as testing sites.
Buntin said Dr. John Holleman and Dr. Phil Malone from the Ole Miss faculty in Oxford will be in Room 333 at DeSoto Center at 5197 W.E. Ross Parkway in Southaven at 6 p.m. Tuesday to answer questions and provide information to anyone interested in entering the program. Holleman also may be contacted at (662) 915-5483 or by email at jholleman@bus.ole miss.edu. In addition, information may be obtained and an online application submitted at http://www.mba.olemiss.edu. Admission requirements will include an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution, a Graduate Management Admission Test score "that indicates success in graduate business study" and a 3.0 grade point average on the most recent 60 hours of courses, plus prerequisite courses and other requirements.
